WHO ARE WE?
Seize the Day is a non-profit foundation that aims to support and help to expand research in finding further treatments and cures for epilepsy and seizures. A big goal is also to provide hope and let individuals going through this, or know someone dealing with this, that it can be hard but you are not alone and we want to help by offering support. It is important that regardless of what may be happening, you try your best to find your positive outlook and seize every day. 100% of all our donations will go to Vancouver General Hospital, the only Seizure Investigation Unit facility in BC, to help provide them with more time for research, find additional treatments and mostly, to discover further cures to help support anyone going through or living with epilepsy and seizures
ABOUT
JASMINE MARTIN
Having any illness in life can be hard but it is so important to remember that although sometimes it may feel like it, you are not alone. My name is Jasmine Martin, and I started this foundation because I genuinely want to help. I was 27 years old when I started having my seizures in 2023. My husband found me having a Grand Mal seizure in my sleep which led the doctors to find that I had a very large tumour on the left side of my brain. After being put on medication to stop major Grand Mal or "Tonic-clonic" seizures, I still had Focal seizures at least 1-2 times a day on average. Of course it isn't always easy, but I have to say staying strong, optimistic and positive was what led me to find a way to adjust and accept my tumour and seizures as well as still find a way to try my best to live happily. Within a year and after 2 surgeries, I have been incredibly lucky to have my tumour removed and have been cured from seizures all together. Beyond that, I have been blessed with the most supportive core group of family and friends. Regardless, I will always be able to relate, understand and have a big open heart to anyone experiencing epilepsy and seizures, which is what encouraged me to help provide donations to allow further research and information for cures.
