Hello my name is Maka and I’m a 22 year old woman who is learning to see life in a positive light. I have a mother, father, 2 brothers and 1 sister who I love to the moon and back. Even though I was diagnosed with epilepsy at the young age of 3, I didn’t start dreaming about becoming an advocate for not just epilepsy but other disabilities until my last year of high school.
You maybe wanting to understand the reasons why this is. To tell you the truth I felt ashamed, scared and the fear of being told that I’m lying.
But now looking back, I can proudly say that sharing my story is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I want to show others that we will not be silenced, we can live normal lives and that it’s ok to be different.
My last seizure was back in 2018 and me and my family are happy that my medication is helping.
To those with epilepsy, look at how far you’ve come and smile because I’m proud and believe in you all. Thanks for reading my story.
